CHRISTMAS PARTY 2008

We hope you all enjoyed the Christmas Party Held on Sunday 16th of November 2008 at the Moonrakers Public House.  We would like to once again thank Jac Dawson for organising the venue.  It was nice for us all to get together on a social basis for a change instead of just on a Monday night at training.  We all hope you enjoyed the afternoon.

DONATIONS

On Saturday 6th December we received a Cheque at Swindon Town Football Club from the Bank of New York for £4000 this has been matched by Sport England so this gives us enough funding for two chairs which will be purchased as soon as possible after this time. Any ideas for storage of these chairs would be gratefully received

FUNDRASING

Any ideas for fundraising please pass on to Jac or Rachel and we will investigate . Ideas for self fundraising events or suggestions of where we may be able to get donations or grant funding, would be gratefully received. We are looking into grant applications for Awards for al,l Football Foundation and Children in Need.

FUNDRASING EVENTS 2009

We have two fundraising events in the pipeline for 2009.  The first is a charity  choir concert at the Blundson House Hotel on Sunday the 29th of March.  We will be holding a raffle as part of the proceedings any body with any ideas for where we can obtain prizes from maybe you know of a restaurant or pub that would give a meal for two or similar things rather than the usual box of chocolates etc. Suggestions would be gratefully received by Jac or Rachel .  We also have the funding for a parachute Jump to be held late spring early summer weather permitting.

APPOINTMENT OF MANAGER

We have been very lucky to secure ourselves a Manager for Swindon Rockets PCF Club. Mr Lee Brown has agreed and been voted in as the new manager of Swindon Rockets PCF Club.  This appointment will help with the clubs development and training programme and help to make us more ready to take part in games against other teams in the league.

APPOINTMENT OF NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS

On Monday the 24th of November at Nova Hroed School we held an emergency meeting of the Swindon Rockets PCF Club to elect new members to the committee.

These vacancies became vacant due to the resignation of Tony Yuill due to personal circumstances we would like to thank Tony for all the hard work he did for Swindon Rockets, we wish him and his family well.

The new appointments are as follows:-

Kevin Dawson Vice Chairman

Jackie Dawson Fundraising Officer

Manager Lee Brown

Child Welfare Officer Assistant Jackie Dawson

I would like to thank these people for taking up these posts, without these positions being filled the club would not be able to run.

CHRISTMAS BREAK / NEW MEMBERSHIP

Our last meeting will be on the 15th December 2008 and we will be reconvening on the 5th of January 2008.  I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and look forward to what next year will bring for the Swindon Rockets.  Membership will be required to be renewed on the commencing of the New Year.

COACHING

Adam Greaney is still very much involved with Swindon Rockets development, but due to other coaching commitments within his employment he has had to take a step back.  The coaching has been handed over our own coaches Mark Williams Tony Collins and Dale Welland.  I would like to thank them for all their support and guidance within the training sessions without them and there knowledge myself and Lee would not be able to provide such a fun but structured training session.

PROPOSED EVENTS FOR NEXT YEAR

On the Sunday the 25th of January there is a possibility of us taking part in an event in Hatfield organised by Aspire, it is hoped we can get a team together further details to be confirmed.

PARACHALLENGE  MAY 2009

Myself and Mark met with Ben Humphrey to discuss the possibility of us taking part in next years parachallenge at Dorcan sports centre.  The event is organised by Ben to show what sports are available to the disabled people in the community, so by our attendance we can promote Swindon Rockets and have some fun as well.  Other teams will be invited to attend this day and we await confirmation from these teams.
